When I founded Confessions of a Reborn Girl, I had one goal and one goal alone: to teach others about human potential. Too many times, I’ve heard stories of people who gave up on their dreams because they just didn’t think they had it in them or someone discouraged them from their path. I’m here to tell you that you are good enough and that nobody can tell you otherwise.
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” – Alice Walker
That being said, this would qualify as a mental health blog, but I have other interests as you will soon find. Below is a quick primer to my categories:
Mental Health is the foundation of my blog. It’s my life goal to fight the stigma around mental health and illness as well as give hope to those struggling with their mental health. I have struggled with self harm, but am now 2 years clean and counting. I’m a relentless optimist, but that wasn’t always the case. (That’s the main reason my blog is called “Confessions of a Reborn Girl.) There’s nothing wrong with having a bad day, month, or year. There’s nothing wrong with having things that keep you up at night. There’s nothing wrong with being broken.
Meditation Journal stems from my blossoming adoration for — well — meditation. As an avid over-thinker, it’s is the perfect counter to my habit and it helps me analyze my emotions and inner conflicts. One of the reasons I adore Zen Buddhism so much is because it dares to acknowledge the insufficiency and flawed nature of life. The real world is messy; bad things happen to good people, situations escalate out of control like clockwork, and suffering seems to crop up everywhere. None of that matters unless you choose to make it matter; meaning you can either be at peace or at war with reality. I choose to be at peace and I can show you how I got there too.
Writer’s Corner is where I analyze social norms and American culture along with late night philosophizing and the occasional angsty love poem.
The Boundless Agenda is my brand new blogging series where I define what it means to live boundless. You can also find my blogging challenge, the Boundless Challenge, here which is devoted to inspiring the WordPress community to achieve their full potential. At the end of each week, I share #boundlessmoments of my own and from across the Internet where people do something outside the ordinary like opening up about their experiences as a victim of sexual assault. Who knows? Maybe next week you’ll be featured!
